My Aim...

Ok so basically what I am trying to do and will keep you all updated on is my progress into making up my own unique illustrations.

These illustrations that I will create will stem from two chosen illustrators being; Caroline Andrieu and Yordanka Poleganova.  I will breakdown and analyse both illustrators techniques used and choose some from both and merge them into a new illustrative style, being my very own.

I will do this through the use of CorelDRAW and individually take an image from each illustrator and break it down digitally and select certain areas of both to rework into my own individual style.  Once I have done both illustrators I will them merge them together and hopefully produce a wonderful illustrative style to use in my own portfolio..

Second Illustrator

Yordanka Poleganova

Yordanka Poleganova seems to be an illusive character! I've found it rather impossible to find any information about her apart from her Russian origin. 

Below I've added a few styles of illustrations that she does...

Her style which is done digitally is quite simplistic and mimimalistic yet this is in complete contrast to the detail in each of the backgrounds.  Busy yet very artistic which I feel compliments the simple lines used on the figures and clothing very well.

By analysing her style more, I found the the characters - which are very cartoon like and always interacting with one another - have main features that can be found throughout all her illustrations.  These include certain features such as the chin, nose, breasts and bums all being very prominant and pointed, while the limbs are all extremely exaggerated as well.  Futhermore, all colour has been done in block digital colour which is always bold yet the colours used in each illustration not only always correlate well together but they relate to the theme of the illustration.  Further study of this suggests that the themes used in her illustrations include Christmas, gardening and a beach scene and the colours used compliment these.  For example; the Christmas scene illustration incorporates different shades of red, while the gardening scene uses different shades of green and yellow.

Caroline Andrieu

A graduate of the Atelier de Sèvres and EPSAA, Caroline Andrieu is the art director of Condé Nast digital's department for its Vogue & GQ websites. Caroline, fascinated by drawing and realistic outlines, has contributed to magazine such as Vanidad and SoChic, designs for the young Gat Rimon brand and regularly contributes to Diesel Fragrance Factory website.

When she's not drawing, she can be found careeing around the streets of Paris on her fixed-gear bicycle or on a plane home to Slovakia to see her family or enjoying a slice of scrumptious poppy seed cake!

Caroline's illustrations are so intricately done, I love them! The use of the very detailed pencil work on her figures coupled with the high quality shading makes for such a realistic, life-like and professional illustration.  These illustrations are always seen worked with either watercoloured or coloured pencil shaded clothing which I feel makes for an interesting and fantastic illustration which I can't wait to incorporate into my own illustrations.
